Collection: Jasmine teas

Rich Arabian Jasmine (Sambac) known for its heady aroma is traditionally used in the making of these teas. This famous tea is a speciality of Fujian Province in the south-east of China.

The green tea base, zao, is picked in the spring. It is rolled and then dried with warm air blown over it. The fresh blossoms, picked in July during the early afternoons, is the most fragrant. Fresh blossoms are repeatedly mixed with green tea. They are then blown off the tea once the tea has been scented, however, some may be retained to add to the appearance of these wonderful teas.

The scent of good Jasmine tea should be alluringly delicate. Our Ying Zhen Silver Needle is based upon white tea instead of the usual green tea, making it especially light with the heady floral aroma of jasmine. This bud-set tea contains just the white bud and so is beautifully subtle. Jasmine Pearls is also a top jasmine tea and, unusually, is rolled which captures better the aroma of jasmine with which the tea has been in contact. These little balls unfurl as the tea infuses to release its sublime scent.
