Nepalese organic tea: Kathmandu TGFOP

This Nepalese organic tea has a strength and slight sweetness that is ideal for an afternoon tea. The tippy TGFOP grade leaf has the lovely, fresh aroma of a Himalayan meadow. Kathmandu produces a smooth, well flavoured cup with a character between that of a muscatel Darjeeling and a winey Keemun. Most satisfying. Use one teaspoon per cup and one for the pot with freshly boiling water and infuse for five minutes.

"A silky smooth tea with a two-stage taste sensation. A wonderful tea with a taste sensation of two parts. The first part is pure and clean and followed by a full bodied overwhelming sensation that just screams at you to make another pot. Nepalese Katmandu is a truly wonderful tea and best drunk around midday."
"Tangy and refreshing. Perfect with a little milk for reviving my concentration working at the pc."

The benefits of loose leaf tea

  • This is a carefully sourced tea chosen for its distinctive, balanced flavour.
  • Loose leaf tea enables the full flavour characteristics of the tea to infuse.
  • The tea is chosen for its high grade which imparts the flavour and aroma characteristics for which this tea is best known.
  • A little patience is required when infusing large leaf grades but you will be rewarded with a superior, more balanced cup.

  1. James

A silky smooth tea with a 2 stage taste sensation
    tangy and refreshing

  2. rawcy (verified owner)

    Brilliant tea, really tasty, recommended.

  3. Mike Davies (verified owner)

No doubt like many othe people, I bought Nepalese Kathmandu as a substitute for the absent Darjeeling. It’s very good, perhaps even nicer than Darjeeling.

Do you sell it in a more sensible size, like a kilo or several kilos?

  4. David Phillips (verified owner)

Product: Still my favourite tea: on the cusp between Indian and Chinese with a hint of the mild acidity of a n Earl Grey. I tried other Nepal teas when I was in Canada and the USA – the closest was Illam but that does not have the subtlety of taste of this tea
Service: Personal service, excellent quality teas

  5. David Phillips (verified owner)

Product: It has always been excellent in the past – this is the reason I continue buying from such a customer-unfriendly company
Service: Yet again Greys have taken my order, cashed in my payment, sent this questionnaire but not delivered the tea!. I had to send 3 – increasingly annoyed – emails last time. When I buy tea from NBT of F&M it arrives without hassle the following day. Yet this virtually never happens with Greys
Vendor response: I am sorry you have this view which is not reflected in the experience of the vast majority of our other customers. Your order was despatched within four days. There was some delay whilst we awaited additional stock. We have received no communication from you.

Product: This is my favourite breakfast tea
Service: Arrived on time. Delivery has been rather erratic in the past

  7. Derek Smith

    Product:
Service: I like the range of teas and speed of service. I have 2 comments about the website:-
    1. ordering is a slow process. Price is a factor in what I order but I only find the price once I’ve clicked all the way through to the product. It would be useful to have that information upfront.
    2. I have been trying to find a way to use a different delivery address but haven’t been able to find it.
Vendor response: Thank you for your constructive comments.
    1. On 21st February we introduced various changes to our shopping basket and checkout which we hope will make shopping quicker and easier. We realise that having the price with the tea details can be inconvenient but many customers prefer to have all the tea details on a single page.
    2. If you wish to ship to an address other than your billing address please tick the box ‘deliver to a different address’.
    I hope this helps.

  13. Heather Davies (verified owner)

Wonderful tea – does exactly what it says on the tin. Opening the tin, it really does smell like a freshly cut meadow, and the taste is just as described. We call it our “Everest” tea. A lovely cup of tea for any time of day.

  14. Carolyn Mills

A delicious tea which I really enjoy. Reminds me of Bikash’s tea kiosk in Swotha Square, Patan, Kathmandu and the delicious local teas he served. I will be buying again.

Prompt and efficiant service. Thank you.

  17. John Birdsall (verified owner)

When I last ordered some (a lot!) Darjeeling, I added a small packet of this tea as well on the basis of several positive reviews. And I am delighted! I’ve not been to the Himalayas so I’ve no idea what the meadows there smell like, but I love this tea. It’s complex like a good Darjeeling but somehow more comforting. I think I may have found my favourite tea!

  18. Jon (verified owner)

Rapidly becoming one of my favourite teas. I love the Darjeeling flavour and associated additional flavours but without some of the dry aftertaste that sometimes comes with a Darjeeling tea.

  19. Dmytro Lebed

Product: Brilliant black tea, light in colour and with a unique taste.
Service: Nothing to complain about. Excellent teas, good service.
