About Grey’s Teas. We are dedicated to supplying the world’s greatest teas.
We offer a superb range of loose leaf, speciality teas from areas of the world famous for the quality of their teas. So, let us tell you a little about Grey’s Teas. We specialise in teas from individual tea gardens or tea growing areas so that you can really experience their immense diversity of character. We only sell loose leaf teas. We focus upon large leaf, traditional orthodox teas which give the best all-round, balanced flavour in the cup.
Our blended teas comprise some of the best known English blends. They are traditional in taste and use noted teas that give them a classic character. The essence of these and other teas imported to England for many decades is captured in this video clip for which we are grateful to Joshua Balls.
Since starting in 2000 we have built a loyal following amongst our customers and we are grateful for their support. Our teas are of assured quality and we are constantly receiving new stocks to ensure freshness. Our teas are imported via long established tea shippers able to air-freight new season teas as soon as they are available. We look out for good tea crops, exciting new teas and, on occasion, we will cease stocking teas should an alternative tea garden offer better quality or value.
We are now located near at Wootton Wawen near to Warwick, the historic county town of Warwickshire, England.
Our website has a wealth of information should you wish to discover more about tea. Buying from us online is secure. We use WorldPay and PayPal, major and long established and secure means of payment. We aim to despatch our teas within five working days of your order and delivery within the UK is free for orders over £30.
We are committed to offering good value. We are confident that you will be delighted with your tea purchase and we want you to come back to us each time you need more tea. We therefore aim to keep prices at the most reasonable possible.
Sourcing our Teas
Many of our teas are sourced through members of the Ethical Tea Partnership which was established in 1997. It is dedicated to an enlightened and fair approach to employment in tea gardens. Currently the scheme covers 65% of world tea exports. Tea is picked over much of the year and the Partnership recognises the duty of tea gardens to care for the long-term needs of the workforce they employ. Monitoring of standards is independent of the industry, yet paid for by members. Six aspects of tea production are focused on: employment and wage levels, education, maternity, health and safety and various basic rights.
Helping our Customers
We do pride ourselves on helping existing and new customers by being responsive to your needs and questions. We try hard not to be a distant supplier. Just e-mail or telephone. To help us understand your needs we do send out customer surveys. You may also complete our on-line survey.
Richard Grey, founder of Grey’s Teas has worked for Lyons Tetley and Whittard. He has a particular interest in new product development and has an honours degree in marketing and a masters degree in product design. He has travelled extensively in India and China. Richard is descended from the First Earl Grey. It was the Second Earl Grey (British Prime Minister 1830-1834) who had today’s most popular tea named after him. Unsurprisingly, we stock an excellent Earl Grey, a traditional blend of China Keemun, Darjeeling and oil of Bergamot!
