Violet Tea: black tea with violet flowers

The unmistakable scent and uniquely deep flavour of violet flowers makes this violet tea a must for those who adore this popular flower. Signifying innocence, giving violets is a symbol of love, so what better present to give? Violet flowers have meaning in ancient Greek and Roman civilisations and have an important place in Christianity. Blue violet flowers symbolise love and faithfulness and are plainly evident in this wonderfully flavoured black tea. Use one teaspoon per cup and one for the pot with freshly boiling water and infuse for three to five minutes. Best drunk without milk or sugar.

The viola odorata plant produces the distinctive violet aroma, considered a little 'flirty' as it comes and goes. The scent contains ionone which has a captivating aroma such that no other aroma can be detected until our sense of smell recovers!

Tea from Grey's Teas

Our teas are loose leaf and we specialise in large leaf grades. All are made using traditional orthodox methods. Our teas are from named tea gardens or defined areas of origin.

Sourcing our tea

This violet tea has been chosen for its distinctive, balanced flavour, aroma and appearance. Our tea is carefully sourced from long-established shippers. We can therefore guarantee the quality and origin of each tea and that it conforms to UK food and drink health regulations and our own demanding grading requirements.

The benefits of loose leaf tea

This Violet tea enables the full flavour characteristics of the tea to infuse. This tea is chosen for its high grade which imparts the flavour and aroma characteristics for which this tea is best known. A little extra time is necessary when infusing large leaf grades but you will be rewarded with a superior, more balanced cup. You will be well rewarded for your patience!

Our tough resealable packets contain a moisture barrier to ensure freshness is maintained and are specifically designed for tea. Alternatively, you can select a tin caddy for your tea. These square, silver coloured caddies have hinged lids. Again, 60 gram, 125 gram and 250 gram options are generally available as options which can be selected from the drop-down list. Packets and caddies have full-colour labels.

The most lovely TRUE violet tea I have been able to “hunt down” in the entire Europe.
From more than 60 different super high quality teas in our home, this one is absolutely in the top 3.
I mostly enjoy it as an afternoon tea with a bisquet on the side.
I brew it at close to 100°C for 1½ minutte in an open paper filter and serve it in a mug.
    I just love it!!!

  2. Sandra Carter (verified owner)

Lovely taste and lots of violet flowers to get the flavour. Hard to find a good violet flavoured black tea and this is perfect.

  3. Anna Sanchis (verified owner)

Excellent quality and flavour. So sweet.

Veyr fast shipping! And it was the only seller I could find who sold violet tea – which is my absolute favourite kind. The packaging is really pretty too. 10/10 recommend!
The tea is quite strong, so I only leave it to brew for 1 to 2 minutes! But You can brew it twice, maybe three times!

  5. Sandra (verified owner)

The violet tea not only has a lovely aroma but it is delicious! I also love that there are violet flowers in the tea. It’s of a high quality and I will be buying more of it eventually. I’m delighted to have found such a good quality tea that tastes so good.

I really enjoyed this, it has a beautiful colour and a pleasant aroma, it is pleasantly sweet without being sickly. This is one I shall be buying again.
