Description

Assam Harmutty TGFOP1: one of the best tea gardens in Assam.

The Assam Harmutty garden was established in 1870 and located in the Brahmaputra valley of Assam. Harmutty is a well made, tippy tea producing a well rounded, smooth cup with an earthy foresty character. This mid-season picking has enough astringency to make for a compelling start to a day. Use one teaspoon per person and one for the pot. Use freshly boiled water and infuse for four minutes.

Which size to choose

  • There are several packing options: 60grams, 125grams and 250grams - the standard being of 125 grams in a packet.

  • Our silver-coloured packets are a triple laminate of paper, foil and cellophane, specifically designed for tea.

How to look after this tea

  • Store the tea with care: ensure it is stored air-tight, away from heat, light, moisture and strong aromas.

    Service: Too many emails and promotions. I buy tea when we run out! For everyday drinking we use Sainsbury’s or Waitrose tea bags. They also make an excellent cuppa.
    Vendor response: We send only two promotional emails each month to customers. Should you wish not to receive these you are can opt-out at the foot of those emails.
    Our English Breakfast is not a strong tea. It contains some Darjeeling for a little lightness.

    Product: Not particularly impressed by this tea. Quite frankly I’ve purchased better off the local supermarket shelf. I found it ‘flat’ and lacking in flavour.
    Service: To date, perhaps I’m making ‘poor’ choices but on the whole I’ve not found the teas I’ve purchased have been on the button. They often feel tired. I’m sorry, but that’s how I feel.
    Vendor response: This Assam is a favourite amongst several of our customers. It is a great malty tea and we have never received comment of flatness or lack of flavour but we are however concerned by your experience. We would be happy to exchange it for an alternative tea. Please ensure that you are using freshly drawn and boiled water; filtered if your water is hard. This can make a significant difference to the taste of your teas.

    Product: This is a good Assam with plenty of character, a good morning brew. It does not have the full malty flavor that I prefer in an Assam tea but still a respectable tea!
